WE'VE GOT [ANOTHER] ONE! New Ghostbusters Movie Announced at CinemaCon 2022

It’s official! A new Ghostbusters film was just announced at CinemaCon!

In some massive news, Sony Pictures has announced a brand new Ghostbusters film as part of the studio's presentation at CinemaCon 2022.

As of this writing, information is scarce, with no word on if the film will serve as a continuation to Ghostbusters: Afterlife or how it’ll fit within the franchise. However, Afterlife director Jason Reitman has hinted in the past that we could see the return of Vigo the Carpathian.

Given Ghostbusters: Afterlife was undoubtedly a success for Sony Pictures, with a current worldwide gross of over $204m, on a budget of $75m, another film announcement has been expected for some time.

During the Ghostbusters: Afterlife panel at last year’s New York Comic Con, director Jason Reitman talked about the potential for more Ghostbusters films, saying:

“We wanted to make a movie that open the universe to all kinds of stories. I want to see Ghostbusters movies from all of my favorite directors, and we hope that this movie sets the table for that.”

In addition to the announced Ghostbusters film, two brand new video games are also in production. The first, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, is a 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer shooter, and the other, Ghostbusters VR, will allow you and three other friends to form your own ghostbusting team in glorious virtual reality.
