Similar to the teaser trailer released in October, the poster sets the stage for a chilling battle as New York City is caught in the midst of the Death Chill, with the Ghostbusters, new and old, joining forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Sony Pictures has also released a few additional variant/international posters that keep the overall tone and spectral threat present, with the first swapping the Manhattan Bridge for the Brooklyn Bridge and another that features the Empire State Building.

It’s clear that the marketing for Frozen Empire is in full swing, with today’s poster reveal following yesterday’s Empire Magazine exclusive, which featured a new on-set photo of stars Bill Murray and Paul Rudd, along with recent comments from director Gil Kenan, who’d mention the film’s “terrifying stakes” that signals “the post-Gozerian era of the Ghostbusters saga.”

“We are now in the post-Gozerian era of the Ghostbusters saga, so that means we’re able to stretch out and create an entirely new mythology. And that’s thrilling as a storyteller because there are all-new and terrifying stakes with fresh visual references to draw on.”
