First reported by Deadline, Sony just confirmed Ghostbusters: Afterlife has been delayed from March to June 11, 2021.
Here's the movie's official synopsis:
"From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind."
Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson and Paul Rudd star in the new installment of the franchise, directed by Jason Reitman and produced by Ivan Reitman. Gil Kenan and Reitman penned the script, which centers on a single mom and her two kids who arrive in a small town and begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.
Originally expected for a July 10, 2020 release, the film first got delayed until March 5, 2021, due to COVID-19. With theaters either not currently opening or, if they are, practicing social distancing measures that only allow limited capacity, news of a push to June 11, 2021, shouldn’t come as a surprise, although it is disappointing.
