Michael K. Williams talks "Ghostbusters": "I'm in a scene with Slimer!"

This is a very good year to be a fan of actor Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire), who has roles in the movies Triple 9 (out Feb. 26) and Assassin's Creed (out Dec. 21) and is one of the stars of SundanceTV's new crime-drama show Hap and Leonard (which premieres March 2). But 2016's most successful Williams-featuring project might be the new Ghostbusters movie, in which he appears alongside Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, and Kate McKinnon, reports EW.com!

"I play the FBI agent who works for the mayor," revealed Williams when he popped into the Entertainment Weekly Radio studios on Thursday. "Our whole thing is, we're going to tell the people it was a flash in the sky and 'Run along little women with your ghosts, we got this.' That was a dream job. They're at the top of their game, man. I had the pleasure of working with Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon on a show on IFC called Spoils Before Dying. So, I had a relationship with them already. Leslie Jones, you meet her once, you feel you've known her your whole life. She penetrates any walls or any barriers you may have, she goes right through that, right to your heart chakra. And Melissa, she's just a gem. I have so much respect for these ladies."

As much as Williams admires the film's quartet of leading ladies the actor was even more excited to collaborate with another of the movie's stars. "I'm not going to lie, working with Melissa, and Kristen, and Kate, was really dope," he said. "But I got to work with Slimer, dude. Like Slimer!!! I'm in a scene with Slimer! I'm a huge Ghostbusters fan and it was a dream come true."

No doubt director Paul will have to confirm the inclusion of the 'ugly little spud' now.

Back in November, referring to a report that Slimer was involved, Paul Feig tweeted: 'Sorry, gang. That IMDB credit is not true. Gotta unconfirm that one.'

The upcoming female-fronted Ghostbusters movie, out on July 17, will also feature cameos by the original and best Ghostbusters stars - Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts.

Below, you can listen to Williams talking about Ghostbusters; hear the full interview on Entertainment Weekly Radio's Entertainment Weirdly show, 1 pm EST, Feb. 29. on SiriusXM channel 105.
