Rocket Licensing Sees "Accelerated Growth" Of UK Licensees For New "Ghostbusters" Movie

Rocket Licensing has seen "accelerated growth" in the number of UK licensees signing for the eagerly awaited Ghostbusters property.

With just over eight months until the worldwide release of the rebooted Ghostbusters movie in July 2016, the licensing campaign for the film is picking up 'extraordinary momentum' that now sees 23 partners on board.

The latest companies to get on board with Ghostbusters include Centum Books for publishing; Brand Alliance for adult’s t-shirts and sweatshirts; BC International and Poetic Gem for adult nightwear, underwear and loungewear; Danilo for calendars, cards and gift wrap; Branded Distribtution for 3D lights; Hancocks and Kinnerton for confectionery; Finsbury Foods for celebration and seasonal cakes.

The new signings join a portfolio of partners that already covers the likes of plush, gifts, skateboards, toys from Mattel and dress up items from Rubie's.

Having first hit screens in 1984, Ghostbusters has built up a strong following of fans over the decades.

Hitting screens more than 30 years later, the re-booted movie will star Kristen Wig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, and will feature cameos by the original and best Ghostbusters stars - Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts.

“The confirmed signing of a big roster of best-in-class licensees well before the end of 2015 shows the extraordinary momentum behind a brand that is as popular today as it was over 30 years ago – and which is about to enjoy an even higher profile as the great new Sony film comes to screens worldwide,” says Rob Wijeratna, joint managing director, Rocket Licensing.
