The first Ghostbusters movie was released on June 8, 1984 and to celebrate its anniversary date, Sony Pictures will hold a dedicated Ghostbusters Day on Wednesday 8th June 2016!
This day-long celebration of all things Ghostbusters will see the cast of the original classic Ghostbusters movies - Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts - reunite, joining new cast members Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig, and Melissa McCarthy for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The original film will screen in more than 800 cinemas across the US and before each screening will be a sneak peek of the new film.
Elsewhere, in Brooklyn, BBQ Films will present the world's only official immersive screening of Ghostbusters in a presentation called Ghostbusters HQ.
Guests to Ghostbusters HQ will get a '360-degree interactive experience' and will also be the first to sample the new Ghostbusters console game and the mobile game. Fans will also have the chance to record their spectral encounters using special GIPHY Cam filters, and enjoy Hi-C Ecto Cooler beverages at the bar.
Sony Pictures will also launch the Ghostbusters Twitter Mission Sweepstakes on Ghostbusters Day.
The sweepstakes will award prizes, including custom Ghostbusters uniforms, every week leading up to the release of the film to users who retweet contest messages.
The new Ghostbusters will land in cinemas on July 15th 2016.
