"Ghostbusters" (2016) To Reveal The Origin Of Slimer! (Spoilers Ahead)

The Boston Herald is reporting the exciting Ghostbusters news that the upcoming Ghostbusters movie will explore the back story of everybody's favourite ghoul, Slimer! But don't say I told you. Because it's supposed to be a secret!

SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!

Please note that this post contains spoilers about the upcoming Ghostbusters movie that you may wish to avoid.

In the reboot, Slimer will appear during the Ghostbusters' first official gig, reports The Boston Herald. The 'busters - Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones - are called to Rockefeller Center to dispense with the ghost of a fat Mafia guy. Nuclear engineer, munitions expert and proton wrangler Jillian Hotlzmann (McKinnon) - the Egon in this version - tests out her new Proton Pack on the ghost and shoots off his arms, legs and torso, leaving only a disembodied head. Voila, Slimer!

The head gets away, but videos of their battle with the ghost go viral. Unfortunately, everyone thinks it's a joke and the evening news refers to the gals as "Ghostbusters."

Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire), who plays an FBI agent working with the mayor of New York, says he has a scene with Slimer.

"I'm not going to lie, working with Melissa, and Kristen, and Kate, was really dope," he told Entertainment Weekly. "But I got to work with Slimer, dude. Like Slimer!!! ... I'm a huge Ghostbusters fan and it was a dream come true."

Now you may recall that in November, Feig tweeted that he had to "unconfirm" a rumor that Slimer would be in the reboot. Or maybe he was just unconfirming a report on who was cast as the Slime-inator.

Either way, it became pretty obvious the green guy would return when Hi-C revived its Ecto Cooler with Slimer on the box and Hostess came out with the slime green Twinkies. How could the flick not revive its No. 1 product spinoff?

Dan Aykroyd Reveals '#Ghostbusters 3' is in the Works! | #Ghostbusters3 | #GhostbustersIII

Two years after the all-female reboot of the beloved 1980s franchise arrived, original star Dan Aykroyd is now promising that a true Ghostbusters 3, starring the three surviving OG ‘busters, is on its way. Many thought the death of Harold Ramis, who played Egon Spengler, in 2014 had put paid to a proper reunion, but Aykroyd’s comments suggest that we can look forward to him teaming up with Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson in the near future.

While speaking on The Big Interview With Dan Rather, the man fans know as Dr. Ray Stantz, the heart of the Ghostbusters agreed with Rather’s wording that he was talking about making a “full-blown third Ghostbusters,” with an unknown writer already currently working on the script. Obviously, Aykroyd wouldn’t let on to anything about story details, but he did tease that it’ll try and recapture what worked so well about the original films while giving it a “21st century” twist.

“I think we got a story that’s gonna work. It’s being written by a really goo…
