Although the new all-female Ghostbusters doesn't hit theaters until this summer, USA Today couldn't help but ask director Paul Feig about the movie while he was on the Critics' Choice Awards red carpet to promote Spy.

Here's what he told them:
* It will definitely be an origin story
Nope, this is not the continuation of the previously-established Ghostbusters universe.
* There are upgraded proton packs
"You got your basic proton pack, but even that we changed up," said Feig. "I wanted to see the evolution of their hardware."
* Kate McKinnon's character, Jillian Holtzmann, is an inventor
It's McKinnon's character who comes up with "a lot of sidearms" for herself and fellow busters of ghosts played by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Leslie Jones, said Feig.
There will be plenty of Ghostbusters action figures
Though sometimes toy companies have not included female figurines in the past, Feig, himself a collector, assures fans that there will be plenty of new women from the Ghostbusters squad as miniatures.
