The Daily Show returning to UK screens

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is to air on Comedy Central UK after the broadcaster acquired the exclusive rights.

The satirical show, which has been awarded nine consecutive Emmy's, will help UK viewers stay abreast of the US Presidential election as the race heats up.

The series has run on Comedy Central in the US since 1996, comprising more than 2,200 episodes.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart was dropped by More4 in 2010 in favour of the weekly The Daily Show Global Edition.

Comedy Central's director of programming Chris Collie said: “Our launch timing is perfect as The Daily Show will be the UK’s destination to find out the latest news and the satirical take on the presidential election.”

It will air on Comedy Central Extra during the week from 23 July at 10.30pm [repeated on Comedy Central Extra's plus one (+1) timeshift channel 'Comedy Central Extra +1'] - just a day after its US broadcast.
