Ghostbusters: Firehouse Commences Filming in the UK; Filmmakers Share First Look From the Set

Production of the next Ghostbusters film is officially underway in the United Kingdom, with the filmmaking duo of Gil Kenan (director/co-writer) and Jason Reitman (producer/co-writer) providing fans a behind-the-scenes look at the first day of filming.

Given the caption, “Back in the Firehouse! Day One!” Reitman is seen holding a Ghost Trap while Kenan is sitting in a camera dolly displaying a film slate presenting the working title of Firehouse.

Similar to Ghostbusters: Afterlife’s first set photo, which included Jason and Ivan Reitman with Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace, Firehouse’s day one sneak peek doesn’t reveal much, with the background being relatively indistinguishable. A bit of a contrast to Reitman’s previous behind-the-scenes photo that showed an under-construction recreation of the Ghostbusters’ headquarters interior.

As per a previous report from Production Weekly, which had the film listed under the supposed codename of Hell’s Kitchen, as apparent from today’s update, Firehouse is 100% the working title. In fact, Ghostbusters News has spoken with those in the know, and reports that Hell’s Kitchen was only meant to be used internally for casting but managed to leak out.

For those that may have missed the previously released pre-production photos, as mentioned, the first showcased an under-construction set made to replicate Los Angeles’ Engine Co. 23, the location used as the interior of the Ghostbusters Firehouse in the first film and 1989 sequel. The other photo has Gil Kenan “lensing up” in a pair of Ecto Goggles.

Ghostbusters: Firehouse is slated to arrive in theaters on December 20th, 2023.
