Illfonic has revealed more details about their upcoming 4v1 asymmetrical video game Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed during this year’s Summer Game Fest!
The developers were able to pack a great deal into the short one-minute feature, which was centered around the reveal of The Ectoplast, one of the specific Ghost types players will find in the game.
Along with the main stats and visuals of the Ghost types, within each class, there are said to be variants that will further mix up the gameplay with unique abilities.
Four playable characters were shown, including two new reveals, but first, let’s highlight series favorite and mascot, Slimer, whose unique ability is known as the Noxious Belch. This will see the green blob pretty much ecto-project on any nearby Ghostbusters, covering them in a mighty stream.
Series newcomer Winky, whose name was revealed just last month, can surprise players with the Sludge Puddle, a viscous coating that covers the floors, bound to slow down any nearby Ghostbuster.
Shifting our focus to the new reveals, both Ghosts at first may look pretty similar to Winky but will include unique attributes and, once again, their own specific abilities.
Pokey, a Ghost that could’ve been a cactus in its past life, is covered in what appears to be slime spines. This little deviant has the ability to fire the Ecto Torpedo, which is said to include both precision and distance.
Lastly, we have Brainy, with his entire appearance being that of, what else, an exposed brain! This little guy will put his cortex to work, summoning up a Glob Throw that can be held for more extended periods, amplifying its damage.
Lastly, all Ghosts within the Ectoplast will be able to unleash the super move known as the Slimenado. This will cause the character to begin violently flailing around the screen, covering the location and any NPCs or nearby Ghostbusters in slime, allowing you to get out of a sticky situation!
